OPHEA (Ontario Physical and Health Education Association) has released a downloadable summary document of the 2019-2020 revisions to the Ontario Physical Activity Safety Standards in Education.
Known as OPASSE, these safety standards are intended for curricular programs, intramural activities, and interschool athletics. Activities covered in the document include Climbing, Fencing, Football, Hockey, and Outdoor Education (e.g., swimming and canoeing).
OPHEA notes in the document that this 12-page resource should be considered a summary of changes to OPASSE for the 2019-2020 school year, and is “not an exhaustive summary of all changes and is not to replace reviewing all information related to the activity prior to commencing an activity.”
The OPASSE summary document for 2019-2020 can be downloaded here.
