Did you know workers who are new to a job are three times more likely to be injured during their first month of employment than more experienced workers?
The Ontario Ministry of Labour‘s 2017-18 “It’s Your Job” student video contest challenges Ontario’s secondary school students to produce an original video on any topic related to workplace health and safety that can be used in social media.
Over the years, students from all across the province have shared what they believe are the important workplace health and safety issues facing them and their peers (be sure to visit the ministry’s website to watch some of these outstanding videos). This year’s optional theme is “Impairment at work is everyone’s business.” Workplace impairment can include lack of sleep, long hours, and alcohol or drugs.
Winners and their respective schools will be awarded cash prizes. The top entry also advances to the national finals for a chance to win additional prizes. The deadline for submissions is March 2, 2018. For more details, including rules, entry forms, and past winners, please visit Ontario.ca/videocontest.
