STAO’s most recent safety document highlights the safe use of facilities required to support Secondary school science instruction.
With a focus on practical background information on the safe use and management of science facilities for school board H&S staff and educators with leadership responsibilities in science, STAO’s new Science Facility Safety resource is an important companion guide to the organization’s safety in science instruction text, Safe ON Science.
According to STAO, the target audience of Science Facility Safety is Joint Health and Safety Committee members, Health and Safety Officers, and science department heads and consultants. However, notes the organization, the document provides useful background information for any science teacher.
One of OSIP.ca’s student injury prevention partners, STAO (Science Teachers’ Association of Ontario) aims to “stimulate and improve the teaching of science in Ontario, co-ordinate the activities of its members, and disseminate information related to science teaching.”
