Supporting students’ health and well-being during COVID-19
Our Safety Partner OASPHE (Ontario Association for the Support of Physical and Health Educators) has curated a collection of month-long plans* for use in Healthy Active Living Education courses (PPL) and their associated courses (PAF, PAI, PAD).
Titled “Getting Started with Learning Outside of the Classroom Health & Physical Education,” the OASPHE content “may be adapted for the age and stage of the learner” using the suggested resource links included in the plans. The association adds that “these (resources) alone will not meet the varied expectations of the HPE curriculum but might offer students an opportunity to engage in learning about themselves, and to continue to explore healthy concepts to support their health and well-being.”
Strands that are covered for learning outside the classroom include:
- Active Living
- Movement Competence
- Healthy Living
- Living Skills
The “Getting Started” plans, which are available for both Secondary and Elementary students, also provide links to resources offered by OSIP.ca Safety Partner OSBIE (Ontario School Boards Insurance Exchange), including How to conduct a Distance Learning Risk Assessment.
