Celebrating Healthy Schools

Update on Ophea’s Healthy Schools Certification (HS Certification) recognizing and celebrating school communities for promoting and enhancing the health and well-being of students, school staff, and the broader community.

six steps vid snapshotThe 2018-2019 edition of Ophea’s Healthy Schools Certification (HS Certification) once again focuses on helping educators and administrators make their school community a healthier and happier place.

This year there are 357 registered Healthy Schools, representing 55 school boards across the province. You can find out if schools from your board have registered by viewing the Registered Schools List.

Beginning last September and running every month until June, Ophea is highlighting the experiences of select registered Healthy Schools who have been sharing their success stories, challenges, and ideas on Twitter using the hashtag #HSCertES. (Note: Registration for the 2018/2019 school year is now closed.)

The goal of HS Certification is to help support schools in becoming healthier places to learn and teach.  For more information, OSIP.ca members can log in to the members’ area, or visit www.ophea.net/healthy-schools-certification.

About This Online Resource

An area of need identified by board staff with responsibility for student injury prevention is the ability to share best practices and information, ask questions, and access links to provincial student injury prevention partners.

As part of SIPI Phase Three, this online interactive resource includes both public and members-only areas. The members-only area allows boards to share resources, ask questions, and connect with fellow colleagues as they further develop student injury prevention plans and resources.
